Uses of MI-KIT
MI-KIT is used for intrauterine pregnancy termination up to gestation of 62 days followed by first day of last menstrual cycle. Affy Group is the manufacturer of hormonal tablets like Combipack of Mifepristone & Misoprostol Tablets (MI-KIT) and many others.
Dosage and Strength
- You have to visit three times to the medical unit when you on MI-KIT treatment. The administration of 200 mg of Mifepristone tablet should takes place under medical supervision. After 36-48 hours of this medication, one more visit is required for clinical examination to confirm whether abortion occurred or not.
- After confirmation 4 tablets of Misoprostol 200 mcg are given for 6 hours, and observation takes place under medical supervision.
Contraindication
MI-KIT is contraindicated in the patients having hypersensitivity to mifepristone, misoprostol or any other ingredients of finished product.
Warning and Precautions
- Caution should be taken while treating patients belongs to age group of 35 or more.
- Special caution should also take in case of patients suffering from asthma and chronic obstructive airways diseases.
- If the patient is smoker and consuming 10 or more cigarettes on per day basis, special caution will be required.
Side effects
Vaginal bleeding, Nausea, vomiting, rash, urticaria, headache, fever, chills, dizziness, constipation etc.
Drug interaction
There are many drugs than can decrease the efficacy of MI-KIT if they are consumed together, these drugs are Ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin and grapefruit juice.
Overdose
Data regarding overdose of MI-KIT is not available but it may cause some common side effects like diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain, convulsions, tremor.
